you can wear long robes or caftans if you live in the middle east, they are very comfortable and no wonder they wear them, lets air circulate. I love wearing long skirts when i am in the middle east, i dont wear them much here it is hard to work fast in a skirt, and the wind blows most of the time, so it is not good to wear them outside.
Guys can't were them because it is gay (not that's bad to be gay). Girls hate them because guys always check us out in them. it gets annoying. I mean if you want to wear a skirt be my guest. You'll just look weird.
