Out of:
Brooks Robinson - Orioles
Lou Boudreau - Indians
George Brett - Royals
Johnny Bench - Reds
Hank Greenberg - Tigers
Joe DiMaggio - Yankees
Jeff Bagwell - Astros
Most will say Joe D, but I say Bench. 2 time MVP, greatest catcher in history - still, the one other catchers are compared to.Who is the greatest player to wear number 5?
BenchWho is the greatest player to wear number 5?
Currently Joe Dimaggio gets the nod. But at the end of his career it very well could be Albert Pujols going by his tract record. Also Bench and Piazza neither one is the best Catcher in Baseball. Go back along time and see some of the early catchers who would catch all 18 innings of double headers every Sunday. Also what was their percentage of throwing out base runners. I' don't have the figures but they were not that great.
right now, Johnny Bench, but by the end of his career, it will be Albert Pujols...and btw, Bench isn't the greatest catcher in history, that would be Mike Piazza
EDIT= haha, yea, deffinately dan man, yogi is deffinately better than piazza (sarcasm, for any1 that couldnt figure it out on their own)
Being from the KC area, and a lifelong Royals fan, it's gotta be George Brett. DiMaggio, Bench, Robinson, Greenberg, etc are all great players, but Brett set the standard at 3rd base that still exists today. since he didn't play for a high profile team (i.e. Yankees, Red Sox), he's pretty much overlooked for the most part. but he was a great player through and through.
Joe DiMaggio . Can't be mad at you picking Bench tho .
Joe D :
9 WS titles
3 time MVP
13 time all star
2 batting titles
Joe no doubt but Pujols and Wright should be in the top 10 with him
Joe DiMaggio no doubt
Joe D look at the record and the feats he met.
Out of those guys, easily Joe D. One guy you didn't mention, Albert Pujols, is right up there too.
Johnny Bench
Joe D. man yea that is hilarious piazza is not even close to the best catcher that would have to be Yogi Berra
JOE D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joe D %26amp; Johhny Bench to tought to choose between the two!
